The Lighthouse , July - November 2020, Governors Island, NY

This is the true story of 7 strangers picked to live in an island safe house in the midst of a plague.

Each has brought with them only the most important goods, bare essential, critical. Each day they travel from the mainland to the house where they occupy a room that looks back at the city and the sea beyond. Languid air moves through the windows and down the stairs of the colonel’s mansion, through the wildflowers, past the fort, the prison, and barracks.

Lasercutters, cotton quilt, projections mapping onto history, cyanotypes in blue water, and blues on the front porch.

This is The Lighthouse, a residency and refuge hosted by Beam Center with the support of The Trust for Governors Island.
